St. Agnes had been a Catholic parish established in Detroit in 1913. The building was completed in 1924. The church also featured both a high school and grade school, eventually only serving grades K-8. By 1989, the parishes of St. Agnes and the neighboring St. Theresa were merged to form the Martyr's of Uganda parish. In 2006, the Archdiocese of Detroit closed and disbanded the parish.
I had the pleasure of visiting this church today with a friend & local photographer Maciejka Grzlnk! It totally amazes me that this church has only been abandon for six years. The decay & vandalism throughout the church seems like it would take decades to progress, although things tend to age a lot faster these days.
Although to some the beauty is lost within these walls. For others, like myself the beauty actually lies in what is has become.
